Julie Muszynski is an artist, author, designer, and just plain all-around creative. She loves all things artistic, beautiful, and research-based. Often, you can find her deep in the trenches of a bookstore, archive, or library. Among her favorite research adventures, she found herself ensconced in the Brooke Russell Astor Reading Room at the New York Public Library, diving into the world of the extravagantly divine fashion editor Diana Vreeland for a book by Vreeland's grandson.

She spent her formative years in her career working in the prestigious advertising and fashion departments at Saks Fifth Avenue and Calvin Klein, respectively, moving on to work as a freelance stylist for clients including Bergdorf Goodman, Burberry, Martha Stewart Living, and Vogue, just to name a few. Research is an integral part of her personal and professional work; some of the archives she has worked extensively with include the New York Public Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Henry Ford, the American Kennel Club, the Museum of Natural History, The New School, as well as the archives and collections of many other prominent designers and artists. Julie has written five books, three of which she illustrated and designed based on her charming character, Henley™®. She holds a BFA in Textile and Fashion Design and a Certificate in Graphic Design from Parsons, and an MFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Fashion at Parsons and teaches Fashion Illustration at Wayne State University.

Her work has been recognized by the AKC Museum of Dog and American Illustration, and was chosen by Alexander McQueen for their outdoor advertising campaign supporting the National Health Service during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Julie and Birdie, her Japanese Chin, divide time between New York City and “The Paris of the Midwest,” Detroit.

Julie is available for commission works as well as commercial + editorial - research, writing, artistic, and design collaborations.
